Top 5 Children’s Birthday Party Themes

Planning a children’s birthday party isn’t easy, but choosing a theme is a great way to start and will make the whole process easier.

Not to mention, a theme will add that all important personal touch to make your little one feel extra special on their big day. Themed décor can bring everything together to make for a truly unique celebration that the kids will be sure to remember. To help you plan your child’s birthday party, we’ve put together a list of our top five birthday party themes for children, all of which can be catered for here at Horsfall Community Stadium, Bradford’s premier birthday party venue.

Sports Themed Parties

The Horsfall Community Stadium 3g Pitch

Of course, our top choice has to be a sports theme! With the 3G pitch at Horsfall available for bookings, what better way to treat a future athlete than with a game of football or rugby, before hitting the function room for food and refreshments.

Our hospitality suite can be decorated with the colours of your child’s favourite football or rugby team. Decorations such as bunting, flags, tablecloths and even football shaped balloons can be used to create a simple, but immersive atmosphere. We’d also recommend a sports themed birthday cake to complete the buffet. You could even have cardboard cut-outs of your kid’s sporting heroes, a great way to get them to stand still for a photo!

Fairy Tale Birthday

Does your little one dream of living in a fairy-tale? Then transform the venue into a ballroom fit for princes and princesses. Pastel shades provide an elegant backdrop, while fairy lights and mirror-balls will bring a touch of sparkle to the room.

A tiered cake as a centrepiece will wow the party guests, and the young ones can live out their fairy-tale dreams, singing along to the Frozen playlist dressed as belle, or playing sleeping logs just like Sleeping Beauty and Snow White. Either way, you’re sure to have a ball.

Pirate Adventure Party

Ahoy mateys! Let your youngster escape to Neverland for the day by modelling your venue into the interior of a Pirates ship. Skull flags, fishing nets and sails will provide a perfect backdrop for children to get into the role of captain hook, imagining walking the plank or chatting to the parrot on their shoulder.

A treasure hunt is a must for the little pirates, with maps being provided to each table or even revealed on the plate as the cake gets eaten. A pirate themed party will be sure to shiver your timbers!

Superhero For The Day

Dust off your capes, a birthday party is the perfect opportunity for kids to get into the costume of their favourite superhero and have those all-important discussions around which powers are the best (The Flash is our favourite hero here at Horsfall – he’d be around our running track like a… well, you get the idea!)

Bright, bold colours will set a vibrant and upbeat scene. One of our favourite ideas is to shine the Bat-Signal on the wall using our function room’s built in projector. Another great idea is to hang spider webs from door frames for any young Spiderman fans. If your little one admires more than one superhero, each table could represent a different character, with appropriate tablecloths and even mini cakes with superhero icons.

Set Out On Safari

Bring out your child’s inner adventurer with a safari theme. Start by decorating your party venue in a way that transports the birthday boy or girl into the heart of the Savannah. Children could dress as explorers, or even as their favourite wild animal, face paint is an especially good idea for any safari themed party, as is a balloon artist who can wow the party guests by morphing balloons into their most loved animals. Add energy to the room with touches of zebra or leopard print on the cake and decorations.

You can also keep the fun going when it’s time to leave, with toy animals in the goody bags!
