We are pleased to announce that Bradford Airedale Athletic Club is starting a Funetics course which has been developed by England Athletics.

Following the legacy of the Common Wealth Games held in Birmingham in the summer of 2022 England Athletics have developed Funetics for all children aged 4-11 years. Funetics reflects on the requirements of the National Curriculum Key Stage 1 and 2 to inspire all young pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically demanding activities.

England Athletics’ vision is for every primary school aged child in the country to be able to access funetics sessions to learn the fundamental movement skills of running, throwing and jumping via a trackable physical literacy-based course.

Trackable and physical literacy based

Funetics leads the way with a focus on better understanding, progression, reward and recognition. Funetics is the first primary school kid’s athletics programme to offer long-term trackable physical literacy against a skills-based competency framework.

The curriculum has been developed using existing resources and material from all over the world and has been reviewed by many of the UK’s leading coaches and world-renowned coaching names.
